Update Green School Committee

​The Green School have been working on the Travel theme for 2 years now. As we are in our 2nd year, we are applying for the flag. Some of the tasks we did over the years were as follows: promoted more economical travel to school, variety of lessons on travel,  had An Taisce talks on Climate change for Senior classes and safe crossing for Junior classes. We have also applied for zebra crossings to be installed in the village and been granted a cover for our bike shelter. We had a very successful Bike Week last year, thanks to the Parents Association.
We are delighted that our recent survey showed an increase in all sustainable methods of travel to school. Cycling is up by 8%, carpooling by 9.6% and walking by 10%!
We continue to work on maintaining our flags for Litter & Waste, Energy and Water. Ongoing activities include annual upcycling Christmas decoration competition, daily composting and recycling, using spare paper when we can, regularly litter picking and making a bug hotel.
